Five benefits of mini sessions - | Wiltshire family photographer |

I love meeting new families and getting to spend time with them in my custom sessions. In that hour I feel like I really get to connect with them and get to know them a little, which is great! Each time I do repeat sessions it’s like hanging out with old friends. Every custom session is all inclusive, which means you get every single edited digital file with printing rights included. So why would you want to book a mini session? Firstly, what is a mini session?

Mini sessions are 15 or 20 minute photo sessions usually on a set day in a set location. They often involve a session fee and include just one or two prints or digital files with the option to buy more digitals, prints or products.

I absolutely believe that mini sessions have their own special place, and here are a few reasons why:

1- Time

Getting a full hour to invest with your family is great, but we don’t always have that time to give. Mini sessions are often 15 to 20 minutes long, meaning you can slot them right into your day. This is particularly great for some little ones, who may struggle with longer sessions anyway!

2- Different

Custom family sessions give lots of time to capture all the little details which make up the memories for you to treasure. But mini sessions are an opportunity to get images with something a little bit different! This might be autumn shoots with changing leaves, Christmas sessions with fairy lights and snuggles or mother’s day specials in the wild flowers. Whatever the theme, it’s a great opportunity to get some cute images with something just a little bit distinctive.

3- Lower cost, high value

If you have a growing family there’s no better way to document those yearly changes than an annual family photo shoot, but a full session just isn’t in everyone’s budget. You could opt for a less experienced, cheaper photographer, but if you have your heart set on stunning professional photos then mini sessions are the ideal choice. Gorgeous photos from your favourite photographer but with a more budget friendly price tag.

4- Trial

Photographing your family can often be a big investment, so choosing who to do it isn’t always easy. Picking someone who’ll connect with you and your family, capture you in the way you want to be remembered, and in the style you love, is quite a challenge! Mini sessions can be a great way to trial a photographer to see if you click before booking them for a longer shoot. 15 to 20 minutes is the perfect amount of time to find out if this photographer is right for you and your loved ones.

5- Low commitment

Mini sessions often require only a small investment (or sometimes none at all) upfront. This means you can wait until your gallery is sent to you to decide if you’re going to stick to just a few photos for your Christmas presents or treat yourself to the full gallery.
